    Secured credit is typically only required when you are trying to rebuild your credit. It requires some type of collateral that you would have to deposit or put up to be able to charge.

    Unsecured credit is much more common, in which there is no collateral to back up your charges.

    Both types would to the credit bureaus. If your cards are going unpaid, perhaps you should consider a debit card, instead of credit. Credit cards are one of the easiest ways to get into financial trouble.
