no set time for these things, some companies act faster than others. The one thing I can tell you is that the longer you wait to pay it the more you will owe. You will be charged interest and fees and $7000 is a large amount that a collector is not going to just let go. It could easily balloon up to over $10,000 and you really want it to go as far as wage garnishment, do you? nothing so depressing as working your *ss off and then opening your paycheck to find out you only got $20 bucks or so after the deductions.
